New Restaurant To Open at Watch Factory in Waltham

A new Italian restaurant is planned for the Watch Factory in Waltham in a space that sits along the scenic Charles River.  The new eatery will serve Italian cuisine that will also feature a cafe with pastries and gelato.  Both sit down and take out service will be offered.  The restaurant will contain approximately 80 seats, 30 of which will be on the already built outside deck that is feet away from the Charles River.  The restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The recently renovated Watch Factory contains hundreds of loft style residences and over 150,000 square feet of office space.  Original project plans contained two spaces for a full service restaurant and a separate smaller sandwich/cafe, both located on the North end of the building closest to Prospect Street.  While both office and residential tenants have occupied the Watch Factory for a number of years, the restaurant space has remained vacant.  Permits are in the process of being granted for the interior build out.  No opening date is known at this time.

1265 Main Street Waltham Development Nears Fall 2014 Openings

The long awaited and much anticipated 1265 Main Street retail and office development project in Waltham is nearing the openings of its first retail stores in the Fall of 2014.  The first announced store opening is Marshall's, a discount clothing retailer, part of TJX Companies, which is headquartered in nearby Framingham, MA.  The grand opening is scheduled to be held on October 9, 2014 at 8 am.  TJX Companies has an existing outlet in Waltham under the TJ Maxx brand on Lexington Street, that will not be affected by the Marshall's opening.

Jake n Joe's Sports Grille (pictured above), will soon be adding its third location at the 1265 Main retail complex.  The sports bar and restaurant is owned by the Nocera family, owners of the regional Chateau restaurant chain that was founded and based in Waltham.  Jake n Joe's has two existing locations in Norwood and Foxboro Massachusetts.  No opening date has been announced but is expected in the Fall of 2014, in time to catch some of the 2014 NFL football season.

The third and final opening set for this fall is a Starbucks coffee shop that will feature a drive-thru.  This will be the first Waltham location to open for the 23,000+ coffee shop chain.  A second Waltham location is also currently under construction at 1019 Lexington Street.

Approximately 5,000 square feet of retail space attached to the Market Basket building (pictured below) is ready for interior tenant build outs, however no specific tenants have been named.  Original site plans call for additional buildings to be constructed as part of the first phase of the development project.  While the above named shops and restaurants open, the expansive site will remain in part a construction zone as further land clearing occurs, new buildings are erected, and the planned 120,000 square foot office building is rehabilitated.

Construction started for 256 2nd Ave Office Building

Construction has recently started for a two-story office building at 256 2nd Avenue in Waltham.  The nearly 26,000 square foot building located on the 128 belt can be seen from the busy highway.  With construction commencing without any named tenants, this is more proof of the hot Waltham office market that is attracting new tenants into the city.  In addition to convenient highway access to Waltham office parks, shops and restaurants will begin opening at the end of 2014 and throughout 2015 at the 1265 Main (Polaroid site) development and later in 2016 at 10 CityPoint Place (corner of Totten Pond Rd and Third Ave).
